Write for Us
Share your expertise on color, design, accessibility or web development. We publish genuinely useful articles from designers, developers and educators.
What We Publish
OmniColor accepts guest articles on topics related to:
- Color theory — harmony, contrast, psychology, cultural meaning
- Color formats — HEX, RGB, HSL, HSV, CMYK, OKLCH, color spaces
- Design systems — tokens, scales, theming, dark mode
- Accessibility — WCAG, contrast, color blindness, inclusive design
- Web development — CSS color, gradients, custom properties, canvas
- Image processing — color extraction, quantization, histogram analysis
- Color science — colorimetry, perceptual color spaces, Delta E
We do not publish:
- Generic "10 best color tools" listicles
- Product reviews or sponsored content
- AI-generated content
- Content that has been published elsewhere
- Articles primarily designed for backlink building
What We Look For
- Genuine expertise — you work in the field you are writing about
- Specific examples — real cases, real code, real colors
- Original perspective — something beyond a Wikipedia summary
- Technical accuracy — everything you claim should be verifiable
- Clear writing — no jargon walls, no filler
- Properly cited sources — W3C specs, research papers, documentation
Article Length
We prefer in-depth articles:
- Short guides: 800–1,200 words
- Standard articles: 1,200–2,000 words
- In-depth guides: 2,000–4,000 words
Length should be driven by the topic, not padded to hit a target.
Editorial Requirements
- Original content only: No plagiarism, no AI-generated text, no content republished from your own blog or elsewhere.

Style Guide Highlights
When writing, keep these principles in mind:
- Sentence case for headings — "Color formats explained" not "Color Formats Explained"
- Use Oxford comma — "red, green, and blue"
- Short sentences — prefer clarity over impressiveness
- Define jargon — don't assume the reader knows HSV from OKLCH
- Include code — CSS or JavaScript examples when relevant
- Use real color values — no placeholder #000000 unless that's the actual example
- Link to sources — W3C, MDN, research papers when citing
- Include visual examples — color swatches, comparison tables, screenshots
Topics We Are Actively Looking For
Current gaps in our content that we would love to fill:
- OKLCH and other modern CSS color functions
- APCA (Advanced Perceptual Contrast Algorithm) explained
- Color in WebGL and Three.js
- Color psychology research — what is actually proven vs assumed
- Designing accessible data visualization
- Color in printed materials vs screens — the gamut gap
- Color in animation and motion design
- Building color palettes for specific industries (healthcare, fintech, education)
