What Is an Accessible Color Palette?
An accessible color palette is a set of colors that have been verified against WCAG contrast requirements — meaning every text color has sufficient contrast against the backgrounds it will be used on. Many "beautiful" palettes fail accessibility because low-contrast combinations look stylish in isolation but are unreadable for users with low vision or on screens in bright light.
OmniColor's accessible palette generator does the verification for you: it starts with a base color, computes the full lightness scale, and shows you every combination that passes your chosen WCAG level. No more guessing — every recommended combination is guaranteed compliant.
How It Works
The base color is analyzed in HSL, then expanded into a lightness scale from dark to light. Each pair (text color vs background color) is tested against the WCAG contrast formula, and only combinations that pass the chosen threshold are shown. The darkest text colors typically work on the lightest backgrounds, and vice versa.
