Color Harmony Analyzer

Analyze every color harmony for any base color at once. See complementary, analogous, triadic, tetradic, split-complementary and monochromatic palettes side by side — copy any color with a click.

What Is a Color Harmony Analyzer?

A color harmony analyzer takes a single base color and reveals how it fits into every major color theory relationship at once — complementary, analogous, triadic, tetradic, split-complementary and monochromatic. Instead of opening six separate tools, you see all six harmonies in one view and can quickly decide which direction your palette should take.

This is useful when you are exploring a new brand color, evaluating a client's proposed palette, or teaching color theory. Seeing the same base color expressed in all six harmony types makes the differences between them immediately obvious.

How the Analyzer Works

The base color is converted to HSL, then each harmony is computed by rotating the hue by the standard angles defined by color theory:

  • Complementary: +180°
  • Analogous: −60°, −30°, 0°, +30°, +60°
  • Triadic: 0°, +120°, +240°
  • Tetradic: 0°, +90°, +180°, +270°
  • Split-complementary: 0°, +150°, +210°
  • Monochromatic: Same hue with five evenly-spaced lightness values

Saturation and lightness are preserved from the base color, so every harmony shares the same energy and weight — only the hues differ.

How to Use the Analyzer

  1. Enter any HEX color or click Random to test a new one.
  2. Scroll through the six harmony rows — each shows the base color plus its harmony partners.
  3. Click any color swatch to copy its HEX code.
  4. Pick the harmony that best fits your design intent.
