About OmniColor
Professional color tools for everyone — free, fast, private and built to work in your browser.
Our Mission
OmniColor exists because professional color tools should not require a subscription, an account, or a training course. Designers, developers, students, marketers and hobbyists all need to pick colors, generate palettes, convert formats, and check accessibility — and those tasks should take seconds, not hours.
We built OmniColor as a privacy-first alternative to the subscription-heavy, ad-cluttered color tool landscape. Every tool runs entirely in your browser. Your images, palettes and design work never leave your device.
What We Offer
- Color pickers: Pick colors with HEX, RGB, HSL, HSV and CMYK values, plus a native eyedropper in supported browsers.
- Converters: Convert between every common color format with exact mathematics.
- Palette generators: Complementary, analogous, triadic, tetradic, split-complementary, monochromatic and more — plus themed palettes for weddings, seasons, fashion and interiors.
- Gradient tools: Full CSS gradient generators including linear, radial, conic, mesh and animated gradients.
- Accessibility checkers: WCAG 2.2 contrast validation with exact ratios for AA and AAA.
- Analysis tools: Color psychology, cultural meaning, difference measurement and similarity scoring.
- Image tools: Extract colors from images, count unique colors, extract brand palettes — all locally.
- Utilities: Framework color references (Tailwind, Bootstrap, Material), CSS variables, design tokens and palette exporters.
Design Principles
Every OmniColor tool follows these principles:
- Browser-first: Everything runs client-side. No uploads, no servers processing your data, no waiting for API responses.
- Accurate: We use standards-based color mathematics (sRGB, HSL, HSV, CMYK, WCAG 2.2). The output matches what browsers and design tools produce.
- Fast: No bloated JavaScript frameworks, no unnecessary external dependencies. Pages load in under a second on most connections.
- Free: Every tool is free to use, with no artificial limits, no paywalls and no required signup.
- Accessible: Our own tools follow WCAG AA. Screen-reader friendly, keyboard-navigable, respects reduced-motion preferences.
- Privacy-respecting: No user tracking beyond what is necessary for the site to function. Optional analytics only load with consent.
- Honest: We do not make false claims about our tools, ratings, traffic or capabilities.
What We Do Not Do
To be clear about what OmniColor is and is not:
- We do not have user accounts. There is no login.
- We do not sell your data. We have no data to sell.
- We do not require payment for any tool.
- We do not force you to sign up for a newsletter to use our tools.
- We do not collect analytics without your consent.
- We do not store your images. They never leave your device.
How OmniColor Is Built
OmniColor is a static website built with HTML, CSS and vanilla JavaScript, hosted on Cloudflare Pages. It uses no backend server, no database, and no server-side processing. The tools leverage modern browser APIs: the Canvas API for image processing, the Clipboard API for copy functionality, the EyeDropper API (where supported) for screen color sampling, and localStorage for saving preferences.
This architecture makes the site extremely fast, extremely secure, and free to operate at scale — which is what allows us to keep every tool free for everyone.
