Affiliate Disclosure
Last updated: November 2026
Current Status: No Affiliate Links
As of November 2026, OmniColor does not use any affiliate links. We do not earn commission from any product, service or brand mentioned on this site. Every recommendation or reference we make is independent.
What Is Affiliate Marketing?
Affiliate marketing is a business model where a website earns a commission when a reader clicks a product link and makes a purchase. The affiliate link contains a tracking code that identifies which site referred the sale. This is a common and legitimate practice — but it creates a potential conflict of interest that requires disclosure.
Our Position
We believe affiliate marketing has a place in content sites, but we have chosen not to use it for OmniColor. Here is why:
- Independence: We want to recommend the best tool for the job, not the one that pays the highest commission.
- Simplicity: Managing affiliate relationships creates overhead that distracts from building tools.
- Trust: Users come to OmniColor to learn about color, not to be sold to.
- Consistency: OmniColor is a free site — introducing monetization via affiliate links would complicate the relationship with users.
What About Advertising?
OmniColor is funded by non-intrusive advertising (see our Advertising Disclosure). Advertising is different from affiliate marketing:
- Advertising: Brands pay us to display their message. We do not receive any payment when you click or buy.
- Affiliate: We earn a commission when you buy a specific product through our link.
Advertising is clearly separated from content and never disguised as a recommendation. Affiliate links would create a subtler conflict that we choose to avoid entirely.
If This Ever Changes
If we ever introduce affiliate links in the future, we commit to:
- Clear disclosure: Every article with affiliate links would have a visible disclosure at the top.
- Inline marking: Individual affiliate links would be clearly marked with a symbol or label.
- No editorial influence: Affiliate relationships would never influence which products we recommend or how we review them.
- Update this page: This page would be updated with a full list of affiliate relationships.
- Only relevant products: We would only link to products that are genuinely useful for our readers.
Third-Party Links on OmniColor
Throughout OmniColor, you will find links to external resources:
- W3C specifications and documentation
- Framework documentation (Tailwind, Bootstrap, Material)
- Open-source project repositories
- Cloudflare trust center and privacy pages
- Ad network privacy policies
None of these links are affiliate links. We link to them because they are the authoritative source for the topic being discussed.
How You Can Verify
If you want to verify that any link on OmniColor is not an affiliate link:
- Hover over the link and check the destination URL in your browser status bar
- Affiliate URLs typically contain tracking parameters like
?ref=,?aff=,?utm_source=(when used for affiliate purposes) - Every link on OmniColor points directly to the destination site with no tracking parameters
Regulatory Compliance
Affiliate marketing is regulated in many jurisdictions:
- FTC (United States): Requires clear and conspicuous disclosure of material connections
- ASA (United Kingdom): Requires identification of affiliate content
- EU UCPD: Requires transparency about commercial communications
By not using affiliate marketing, we avoid these regulatory complications entirely. Should we ever adopt affiliate marketing, we would comply fully with all applicable disclosure requirements.
