Careers
OmniColor is a small, remote, mission-driven team. We are not currently hiring, but here is what working with us would look like if we were.

- Work independently — you can own a project from planning to launch without constant supervision
- Communicate clearly — you write well, document your work, and keep teammates informed
- Learn continuously — you are curious about color, accessibility, and web technology

Our Work Culture
Fully Remote
Work from anywhere with reliable internet. We do not have an office and never will. Async-first communication.
Flexible Hours
Work when you are most productive. We care about outcomes, not hours. Some overlap with team time zones is required for collaboration.
Small Team
You will not get lost in layers of management. Everyone talks directly to everyone else. Your work ships directly to users.
Learning Budget
We allocate a yearly budget for courses, books, conferences and tools. Continuous learning is expected, not just encouraged.
No Crunch
We do not do death marches. Deadlines are realistic or negotiable. Burnout is not a badge of honor.
Honest Communication
We say what we mean. Feedback is direct but kind. Disagreements are about the work, not the person.
Hiring Process
When we hire, the process looks like:
- Application review: We review your résumé, portfolio or writing samples.
- Conversation: A 30-minute video call to understand your background and answer your questions.
- Skill assessment: A paid, real-work sample task (e.g., build a small tool, write a sample article, audit a page).
- Team interview: Meet 1-2 potential teammates. Ask hard questions about the work.
- Reference check: Talk to 1-2 references of your choice.
- Offer: Transparent offer with clear expectations.
Total process time: typically 2-3 weeks from application to offer. We do not do "whiteboard" interviews.
Compensation
We are a small, advertising-funded, free product. That means:
- We compensate fairly for the region and role
- We are transparent about compensation in job postings
- We do not match big tech salaries — but we also do not demand big tech hours
- We offer flexibility and autonomy in exchange for a smaller salary than a huge company
We know this is not for everyone. If you are optimizing for maximum compensation, larger companies are a better fit. If you value independence, flexibility and working on genuinely useful tools, we might be.
Diversity and Inclusion
OmniColor is committed to building a diverse team. We welcome applicants of all backgrounds, identities and experiences. We do not discriminate based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, or any other protected characteristic.
Our team is small, but we are deliberate about hiring people with different perspectives, because better decisions come from diverse input.
No Unsolicited Recruiting
We do not accept unsolicited recruiting agency submissions. Any agency that submits a candidate without a prior signed agreement will not be compensated if we hire that candidate.
