Content Guidelines
Standards for accuracy, originality, formatting and editorial integrity across all OmniColor content.
Our Standards
Every page on OmniColor — tool descriptions, blog articles, guides, legal pages — must meet these standards before publication.
Accuracy
- Verifiable claims: Every factual statement must have a source. Technical claims must be verifiable against W3C specs, MDN, or peer-reviewed research.
- Current: Content reflects the current state of technology. Browser support claims must match Can I Use as of the publish date.
- Precise: We say "4.5:1 contrast" not "high contrast." We say "HSL hue 215°" not "blue-ish."
- Correctable: When errors are found, we fix them. See our Corrections Policy.
Originality
- Written from scratch: Not copied, paraphrased from other sites, or scraped
- Not AI-verbatim: AI-assisted drafting is permitted but must be substantially edited by a human
- No content farms: We do not publish hundreds of near-identical pages
- No duplicate content: Each article covers a distinct topic
Formatting
- Headings: Sentence case, descriptive, meaningful
- Paragraphs: 2-4 sentences each, one idea per paragraph
- Lists: For parallel items (bullets) or sequential steps (numbers)
- Code: Multi-line uses fenced code blocks with language; inline uses backticks
- Links: Descriptive text describing the destination
- Examples: Every concept includes real examples with actual values
Technical Content
- Cite specifications: W3C, WHATWG, ECMA — link to primary sources
- Include formulas: For any algorithm or conversion, show the math
- Test code: Every code example is tested and works
- Acknowledge limitations: RGB↔CMYK is approximate; disclose this
- Version accuracy: Note when content applies to specific browser versions
Accessibility of Content
- Contrast: All text meets WCAG 2.2 AA contrast
- Alt text: Every image has descriptive alt text
- Semantic HTML: Proper heading hierarchy, landmark elements
- Link text: Descriptive — never "click here" or "read more"
- No color-only meaning: Information never conveyed by color alone
Editorial Independence
- No sponsored content: We do not accept payment for editorial coverage
- No affiliate links: We do not use affiliate marketing
- No paid placements: Featured tools, resources and references are editorial decisions, not paid
- Advertiser separation: Advertisers have no influence on our content
