What Is Protected
The following elements are protected by OmniColor's copyright:
- Website code: The HTML, CSS and JavaScript that make up the site.
- Design: Layout, visual design, typography choices, color scheme of the site itself.
- Original content: All written articles, guides, tool descriptions, FAQs and educational content.
- Branding: The OmniColor name, logo, wordmark and brand assets.
- Custom illustrations: Any illustrations or graphics created specifically for OmniColor.
- Tool source code: The algorithms and implementation of our color tools.
What Is Not Protected (By Us)
Some things you can use freely:
- Colors themselves: Colors are not copyrightable. Any HEX, RGB, HSL, HSV or CMYK value you generate, extract or convert using our tools is yours to use freely, including commercially.
- Palettes you generate: Any palette, gradient, shade scale or color scheme you create using OmniColor is yours. We claim no copyright over your generated colors.
- Standard color values: Public color values (CSS named colors, sRGB values, framework default palettes like Tailwind, Bootstrap, Material) are not copyrightable by us — they belong to their respective sources under their own terms.
- Color theory: The underlying science of color — complementary colors, HSL conversion math, WCAG contrast formulas — is factual knowledge and cannot be copyrighted.
- Standard code snippets: Basic HTML/CSS/JS snippets that appear in our educational content — like
background-clip: text— are standard techniques that anyone can use.
