What Is a Web Color Picker?

A web color picker produces colors in every format a web designer or developer needs — HEX for CSS, RGB for JavaScript, HSL for design systems, and CMYK for the occasional print reference. It is a general-purpose tool for picking and copying web colors.

Web Color Formats Explained

  • HEX — #155EEF. Compact, universal, CSS default.
  • RGB — rgb(21, 94, 239). Used in JavaScript and canvas.
  • HSL — hsl(215, 84%, 51%). Intuitive for palette work.
  • HSV — hsv(215, 84%, 94%). Used in pickers and image editors.
  • CMYK — cmyk(91%, 61%, 0%, 6%). Print approximation.

Web-Safe Colors

Web-safe colors were a 216-color palette required to display correctly on 8-bit (256-color) displays in the 1990s. They are obsolete today — every modern screen supports millions of colors — but occasionally still referenced. OmniColor does not restrict to web-safe colors; we produce every color your screen can display.
