CSS Code
background: radial-gradient(circle, #155EEF 0%, #7C3AED 100%);
What Is a Radial Gradient?
A radial gradient transitions between colors outward from a center point, creating a circle or ellipse effect. Unlike linear gradients, which flow in one direction, radial gradients emanate from a focal point — perfect for creating depth, glow, spotlight and lens flare effects. CSS syntax: radial-gradient(shape, color1 position, color2 position, ...).
When to Use Radial Gradients
- Spotlight effects: Focus attention on a hero image or key message.
- Glow and highlight: Behind buttons, cards or featured content.
- Backgrounds: Subtle vignette or center-brightness effects.
- Charts and dashboards: Circular highlight around KPI numbers.
- Simulated lighting: Fake light source without images or 3D.
Best Practices
Radial gradients feel most professional when they fade to a low-opacity version of the same color, not to a different hue. Two-stop radial gradients between a vivid center and a transparent edge produce beautiful spotlight effects without visual noise. For subtle backgrounds, keep the outer stop at near-white or transparent.
