Why We Do Not Accept Donations
We have thought about this carefully and made a deliberate choice:
- Independence: Accepting money, even from small donors, creates expectations. We want to build what we think is right, not what someone paid for.
- Simplicity: Running a donation system means payment processors, tax reporting, financial transparency reports and customer service for donors. That complexity distracts from building tools.
- Fairness: Users who donate would feel entitled to influence. Users who cannot donate would feel second-class. Every visitor should have an equal relationship with the site.
- Privacy: Donations require identity and financial data, which goes against everything we believe about minimizing data collection.
- Sustainability: OmniColor is inexpensive to run. Advertising covers costs. Donations would not meaningfully change our ability to grow.
How OmniColor Is Funded
The site is funded entirely by non-intrusive advertising. Ads are:
- Disabled by default — only shown when you opt in
- Never placed on top of tool interfaces
- Never disguised as navigation or buttons
- Clearly separated from editorial content
- Never sold your data for
