What Is a Color Scheme Analyzer?
A color scheme analyzer evaluates an entire palette at once — not just one color or one pair. It checks harmony (do the colors relate predictably?), temperature balance (are they all warm, all cool, or mixed?), accessibility (are any pairs readable?), variety (are they distinguishable?) and internal contrast (does every color stand out from every other?).
This is the audit you want before shipping a design system, a brand palette or a data visualization. It reveals palette-level problems that single-color tools miss: palettes where two colors are actually the same, palettes that only use one temperature, or palettes with too many low-contrast pairs.
How the Analysis Works
- Harmony: Finds the dominant hue pair relationship — complementary, analogous, triadic or scattered.
- Temperature: Counts warm, cool and neutral colors — a balanced palette usually has at least one of each.
- Accessibility: Checks every foreground/background pair against WCAG AA (4.5:1) — reports how many pairs pass.
- Variety: Uses Delta E across all pairs — a palette with high average Delta E is visually rich; a palette with low average Delta E has near-duplicates.
- Matrix: Shows the exact contrast ratio and Delta E for every pair — click any cell to see details.
