What Is a CMYK Color Picker?
A CMYK color picker lets you choose colors by adjusting the four ink percentages used in print: cyan, magenta, yellow and black. CMYK is the subtractive color model — ink absorbs light, so each value represents how much of that ink is applied to white paper.
Why Use CMYK?
- Print design: Commercial offset printing uses CMYK inks, not RGB.
- Packaging: Production files must be specified in CMYK.
- Brand guidelines: Print brands specify their identity colors in CMYK.
CMYK vs RGB — What You Should Know
CMYK and RGB have different gamuts. Bright saturated screen colors (especially in the cyan-blue range) cannot always be reproduced in print. Our tool shows the closest screen equivalent, but always verify with a printed proof before production runs.
