Export Data

Export all data OmniColor has stored on your device to a downloadable JSON file.

What Will Be Exported

This tool exports everything OmniColor has stored in your browser's localStorage:

  • Saved favorite colors
  • Recent color history
  • Cookie consent preference
  • Any other local preferences

This data is only stored on your device — we do not have a copy. Exporting gives you a backup before clearing browser data or switching devices.

Export Your Data

The file will be named omnicolor-data-YYYY-MM-DD.json

What Is Not Exported

The following is not exported because we do not have it:

  • Account data — we have no accounts
  • Email address — we do not store it
  • Tool usage history — we do not track it
  • Uploaded images — they are never stored
  • Generated palettes — they are computed locally and not persisted unless you saved them

Data Format

The export is a JSON file with this structure:

{
  "exportDate": "2026-11-15T12:34:56.789Z",
  "exportedFrom": "https://omnicolor.pages.dev",
  "keys": {
    "omnicolor:consent": { ... },
    "omnicolor:picker:favorites": [ ... ],
    "omnicolor:picker:history": [ ... ]
  }
}

Importing Data Elsewhere

Because the format is standard JSON with localStorage-style keys, you can restore this data on another browser or device by:

  1. Opening Developer Tools (F12) on the target browser
  2. Going to Application → Local Storage → omnicolor.pages.dev
  3. Manually adding each key-value pair from your export

This is not ideal for non-technical users. If you would like us to build a one-click import feature, submit a feature request.
